Concept

Payment (scoring) depends on how you won

Fan tells the table how valuable the hand is. Payment tells the table who pays that value.

If you win on another player's discard, the discarder pays the full amount. If you self-draw, all three opponents pay.

Rule in plain English

Discard win = one payer; self-draw = three payers

This payment rule is separate from identifying the hand's fan.
